Child development is a complex process involving continuous interactions between an individual’s genes and the environment. During the first 2-3 years of life, the child’s body develops very quickly and is most sensitive to external influences. This is the time when the child gradually leaves the home environment, begins to communicate more with his peers, attends kindergartens, where larger groups are more likely to encounter adverse effects of pathogenic viruses and bacteria.
That is why in this period it is extremely important to have a complete diet, which contributes to optimal growth and proper social, emotional and mental development. In outpatient pediatric practice, we encounter both sick and healthy children on a daily basis. Monitoring their physical and neuropsychological development, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic diseases in order to prevent hospitalization, constantly puts us in a situation to look for appropriate means to maintain the optimal condition of the child’s immune system. This process is related both to the preparation of prevention programs for healthy or frequently ill children, and to the preparation of programs to support their own resistance after acute infections in the recovery period. We always need effective products that shorten the period of illness and provide our young patients with long-term protection against infections.
I would like to share my experience with Imunofors – syrup for children, as a means of maintaining and strengthening the natural immunity. It is an innovative complex of plant ingredients with added vitamin C from acerola and zinc. Contributes to the proper functioning of the immune system in children. Acerola (tropical cherry) is a fruit with a high content of vitamin C (100 g – 1600 mg). Improves the immune system and participates in many immune processes, is a powerful antioxidant.
Vitamin C is responsible for the good condition of the skin and mucous membranes, creates a barrier against external factors, is necessary for iron absorption, bone and tooth formation. Elderberry contains a number of bioactive substances – flavonoids, anthocyanins and antioxidants, vitamins A and C. Echinacea is known for its high levels of glycoproteins and chicory acid, polysaccharides, inulin, phenols. The product also contains Lentinex beta-glucan from Lentinula edodes (sheitaki mushrooms), patented by gluca Nova. It is a polysaccharide that has a beneficial effect on macrophages. Improves the work of the immune system by increasing the number of lymphocytes responsible for the synthesis of antibodies.
Zinc is a trace element responsible for the proper functioning of neutrophils and lymphocytes, protects against oxidative stress. The dosage for children from 3 to 7 years is 5 ml, once a day, from 7 to 10 years – 5 ml, 2 times a day, over 10 years – 5 ml, 3 times a day.
The study included about 30 children aged 3 to 10 years, who took the syrup for three months with very good compliance. In half of them the intake started during an acute illness, while in the other half the syrup was prescribed for prophylactic purposes. Feedback from the parents of my young patients showed that they unanimously acknowledged the benefits of the product in terms of reducing the incidence of upper and lower respiratory tract infections and that children liked the taste. I have not shared any side effects or intolerance to Imunofors syrup.
